Entry #3 Fact Check

Hello hypocrites! If you are up to date on the news then you are aware that there is a lot of division in America- politically and socially speaking. Now, whether you are a leftist, rightist, middlist, upist or downist we can all agree that our news sources are ALL bias. There is so much opportunity and freedom to put out your opinions, or interpret facts in your own words so much that original news and facts can be buried under all of it. It can be buried under all the name calling, blaming, theories and even your moral point of view.
The topic on immigration is a constant talk on all sides politically, there is a lot of over generalization that I would like to clear up. I am aware that my own blog is sounding bias already, and I do not mean to offend anyone who opposes this view. If you have a concern, or want to correct me, please comment and let me know. I want to remain neutral, but still hold my morals with facts. Which, I am sure a lot of us do already-in today's world.
There are tons of views on immigration, which makes this topic controversial. I understand that these points of views are all different because we all grow up so differently. Some of us are exposed to the tragedy of having loved ones deported which creates our own prejudices against police and boarder patrol. On the other hand, you can be exposed to being a victim of criminal that matches the stereotype of an "immigrant" or value your hard working money that you don't want to share it to those you feel don't deserve it. All of these sides are real, we as humans create our own prejudices. This blog is meant to clear up some over generalization I often hear.
President Trump appeared in the South Court Auditorium Eisenhower Executive Office Building in June 2018. He discussed immigration, and allowed "Angel Families" to be seen to the audience.
These Angel families are people who have had a family member murdered by an illegal immigrant. He uses these families to prove his point on immigrants, he uses them as an example that allowing illegal immigration, allows crime and murder. Here is a link to a script of the whole event (I made sure my sources were .org because it adds credibility) Remarks by President Trump and Members of the Angel Families on Immigration
As the open minded individuals we claim to be, WE can understand quickly this is over generalization. During my experience as a sophomore, using over generalization in arguments, or points you make can lead your credibility weak. President Trump is not the only one who uses this fallacy, many people do on all political sides.
To clarify why this is an over generalization, Trump states "Do you think they’re going to put their good ones? They don’t put their good ones. They put their bad ones. And then, when they commit crimes, we’re so surprised." Then he proceeds to let victims of immigrants speak out and say "As you know, they could fill this stage up every day for the next five months of victims of illegal alien crime, and it would just keep going."
This event talked about how illegal Mexican immigrants increase crime rates and how they are raping and importing drugs. However this is a misconception. According TO A .ORG WEBSITE, a study by professionals show a graph. This graph explains that Mexico only contributes 10.3, out of the other ten places that smuggle it in more. Another misconception is that illegal immigrants cause crimes when in fact, our own American citizens actually do, and here is the link: https://www.wola.org/analysis/four-common-misconceptions-u-s-bound-drug-flows-mexico-central-america/
Hopefully this blog post cleared up some overgeneralization. Let us step away from a prejudice light and encourage compassion for our world.
And that is the TEA sis!
