Entry #2 Tech Advancin
Hello Hypocrites! Today I will be discussing the advancement of technology! How many people do you know have a home phone, and actually use it? Not very many home phones are left, and if they are, they are mostly used avoiding telemarketer calls that nobody enjoys receiving. In the next generation, home phones are going to be seen as ancient history.

Cellphones are definitely more convenient. If you're out shopping or grabbing some dinner, you don't have to worry about missing that important phone call. You carry your main source of communication right in your pocket or purse.
Another development is definitely dial up internet. As a child I used to hate having to wait for the network to connect and I would have to wait a few minutes, if it didn't work I would have to close it out and restart the whole dial up process.

We have advanced to stronger and faster WiFi connections. Nowadays cars even have WiFi connections. CARS! Anyone from the twentieth century wouldn't have seen THAT coming. With the advancement though, has come great usage and upgrades for school. It has been so easy to just use a phone and WiFi for homework. I don't have to run to the library and find the encyclopedia to look up something I'm unsure of. Google has been an amazing friend and tool to use.
Television is definitely something that has grown. When I was younger I had to be home at the time my favorite show started, or else I would miss it and have to wait for the rerun to come on. Nowadays we have many ways to watch what we want, when we want it. We have Hulu and Netflix, we also have DVR. Shooot, back in the early 1900's, having a TV wasn't even a thing! Now it is one of the most common must have's in a household. Not even having just one television, but in every bedroom and the living room, you might find a TV located in there.
Technology is advancing and we are growing and learning to advance with it, the only downfall that may come of too much advancement is that it does cater to lazy peoples needs.
Procrastination is a lot easier to do when you have 500 tv shows to binge watch or a social media site that you can mindlessly scroll through. When entertainment is so easily accessible, it's easy to stay inside all day being lazy, rather than doing something productive.
I definitely try not to let technology run my life, it is a luxury and I do love the advancements though.
And that's the tea sis!

Technology is crazy!!! and its growing right before our eyes even in the last decade cellphones took a huge advancement from having physical keyboards to unlocking our phones with out face!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with this. The more advanced technology gets the most people rely on it to do things for them. Often I find myself having to convince my friends to come hang out and do something fun versus them watching Netflix. I also think it's crazy that for he most part the only real reason people have their home phones is for emergencies. But the only reason its is used is for either telemarketers, which we all hate, or like your picture beautifully says to find our cellphone. Which is why my friend just got a second cell phone for home use only. All in all, I think we should be careful with how much technologies take over our lives because if we are not careful we will forget how to do simple things.
ReplyDeleteWhile I can clearly agree that advancing technologies have made almost every aspect of day to day life easier, it can also make life more difficult for some. If you buy your grandmother a new TV and cable box, she will have a very difficult time finding the shows she wants when she has two or more remotes with 30 or more buttons on each. Teenagers trying to find a first job have difficulties when they are told they can only apply online, where their applications will be drowned in a sea of resumes. Or a single parent who is struggling financially and trying to go back to school may have difficulties when their classes have a heavy reliance on constant internet and computer access, two things they may not afford.
ReplyDeleteI had a flashback of when I was younger and I would have to wait for the internet to load up and the sound was horrible! Things have definitely advanced and I am so grateful for that! Like you I try not to be obsessed with my tech but it gets pretty hard to function without them sometimes!
ReplyDeleteJackie--Pretty good start to your blog. You have some good ideas and content; keep working on development and significance. Good visual appeal and presentation. Your writing flows well, and your voice is comfortable. Good. Keep it up!
