Hello hypocrites! Hmm where does my life and media intersect??? I'd say it intersects with my life all the time.
My family seems to have grown on to the new age of technology. Before I began expressing my thoughts and opinions on media technology, I just want to say that I do not hate it. I appreciate the positive sides like expressing ones opinions, effectively communicating and overall entertainment. I believe entertainment, interests and laughs are essential for the soul. Every once and awhile it is goof after a long day of work to watch a panda sneeze and scare its baby. On the other hand, I also believe it has disconnected a lot of us today.
When there is a awkward situation, such as when you are next to a person that is in your same class (but, is not quiet a "hey pal lets spill the tea together friend) our tendency to go on our phones wins. This is because we do not wish to interact or speak with them at all. Everyone does this, and I find myself doing this when I have nothing to really say to the person next to me. I also find myself going on the medias when trying to avoid creepy men.
However, this disconnection has reached to my family. I love my family, but boy do we also love the media on our phones. I have been reading articles like, Parents Often Using TVs, Tablets as 'Electronic Babysitters', How Using A Screen As Your Babysitter Could Harm Your Kids In The Long Run and Tablet computers the new electronic babysitter. They all discuss the issue when parents result into letting their kids be occupied by their tablets all the time.

And that is the tea sis!
I really like your blog on tablet babysitters, it was true and informational. Great topic
ReplyDeletea lot of the parents that I know just give their kids a tablet to keep them busy.
ReplyDeleteThe way that you found your voice, and speak to your audience should never go away. I have started to notice that you have this tone that you mean business, but at the same time you are saying that it's cool that we didn't know what you are trying to tell us before. I love it! Okay, back on topic, your piece on electronic babysitters is sadly a new reality, as it will never stop. Parents want to provide the best for their children, yet at the same time want personal time. The only one who gets the best of both worlds is my cousin. She is Mountain Dew, Morning Coffee, Any Energy Drink, and the Energizer Bunny all wrapped in the bundle that needs the tablet once in a while. That child is consistently moving, and that tablet only lasts so long. In my uncles defense, that tablet is a blessing. But that is not the case with all children as most children do not have the energy that child has. Like all adults they lose that energy. It's called aging, but that is not how we stay healthy. Like talking to creepy men.
